Datai- a personalised experience!
The Datai Langkawi is an amazing place, with gorgeous natural surroundings, a beautiful rainforest home to monkeys and hornbills, a butterfly walk, and lovely sandy beach. The whole place is extremely well looked after (we often see the general manager Arnaud around the resort checking on things and talking to guests), and offers a unique experience with outstanding service. .a quiet and relaxing holiday away from the busy city life. I cannot praise the Datai staff enough! Every single person went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Daniel at check-in, Elis, Maya at breakfast, Musrin at the beach club restaurant and Rajat at checkout....to mention just a few. We were upgraded which was really appreciated. After a couple of days many staff could already remember our names. A special mention to Saiid Hazar, the Executive Pastry chef who makes the most amazing pastries and cakes. His carrot cake is to die for and when asked he very kindly provided the recipe - amazing service! My husband was bitten badly by sand flies and was immediately seen by the hotel's very caring doctor, at no extra charge. Overall a wonderful experience!
Even for a top resort in Malaysia some things are a bit excessive in price, for example being charged RM25 for a coke! This time we did not get the daily fruit bowl and chocolate/biscuits during turndown service, which were provided when we visited the Datai in July - a pity as these small gestures are part of what makes Datai so special. Another small observation...it would be better to ask guests at checkout if they want to contribute towards the conservation fund, rather than automatically charging us for this on the bill.

It was incredible!
Architecture, nature, animals, swimmingpools! Only the sea in Malaysia generally is not perfect. Anyway this was the best beach in Langkawi.
